Background

I was born and brought up in Nottingham, and I lived there until I was 18.

There I went to Alderman White Secondary School, where I particularly enjoyed getting involved with the school plays and revues each year and the German exchange to Gutersloh. In the first year I acted in Our Day Out, and from then on I helped with the lighting. I went on the school German exchange for 5 years running starting in year 9 (with only a few months German!) right through to the end 6th form.

I also attended a technical theatre workshop at College Street, from which I got involved with a theatre company (NET) when I was 15. With them, I was involved in various productions including Guys and Dolls (Sep 1996), Simon and the Witch (1997) and South Pacific (Sep 1997).

After finishing school, I went on to 6th form at Lakeview where I did my A levels in Computer Science, Maths, Physics and German. I was also on the college student union committee, which involved organising lots of parties - which was great fun!

I moved to Portsmouth to do the Integrated Degree Scheme with IBM which involved studying Computer Science 2 days a week at University and working 3 days a week at IBM.

At university, a third of the people on my course were Christians, and through talking to them I discovered who the God I'd been praying to is, what he's done for me and what I should do about it! In January 2000 I became a Christian and started going to St Luke's Church in Southsea, where I got baptised in March 2000. Since then I've grown lots as a Christian, and have led homegroups, helped with the Youth Group, been a member of the PCC and played in the band.

In January 2002, I met Laura for the first time at church and then in February we both started to go out together, and decided that we should get married! On September 8th 2002 (just a week after I'd finished my final year project), we got married at church during the Sunday service.

In November 2002, I graduated with a 2.1 from Portsmouth University and since then I have worked at IBM Hursley.

From August 2003 We spent a year working in Uruguay alognside the Anglican church in the city of Salto. We were mostly involved in working with children in a poor neighbourhood, although we were also involved in the church activities too.
